Description
This companion book offers a collection of his daily spiritual reflections, varying from thoughts on cherished Scripture to profound observations of nature, and from personal, life-changing events (major and minor) to global changes. They’re honest, from-the-heart writings that encourage resilience, prayer, and trust while praising God. Ideal as a devotional or comforting Bible study guide, many thoughts are explicitly linked back to Scripture verses—like 10 Signs oF ChrisT’s Return, the blessing of Tithing, or finding hope in Perilous Times.
Consider these words from a wise old man and meditate on God’s words, pondering the mysteries therein and all around:
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,” (Proverbs 9:10 NASB)
“The fear of God is to ‘revere’ Him, we learn to respect, honor and obey God…” (p. 40)
Preface
It was early this year when my dad passed away . . .
Without telling my life-long journey, I’ll tell of this book’s journey if you care to read. It starts with a humble man, his wife, his children, and above all else in his life: his god. It’s true–he ran his household according to what he believed God said to do. Among these things was ministry.
No, my dad didn’t lead a church. He wasn’t a priest, a bishop, or a rabbi, but he was indeed called father. He was our father who drew comics and wrote of the things he meditated on; and among those things was a recently written notebook with a green cover. That’s where the things in this book come from.
My mother passed his writings onto me, the first of which was this particular notebook. It contained poems, memoirs, and short bible study lessons. Over the course of the summer, I decoded my dad’s cursive (it had lots of character), typed it up, and sent digital copies to the rest of my family. That alone wasn’t enough for me.
I decided his poems should be set apart in a dedicated book reserved for them so others may enjoy and be blessed by them and their lessons. That book, which I published under the title Poems by L.L. Bailey: Notebook #1, shares the painting on its cover with this one and they share the same father. Likewise, I hope you share in the blessings from my father’s lessons that were left behind for us.
. . . and it is later this year when this book comes near.
